So close to downtown and such a bright, comfortable loft perched above the back garage in a very nice westside neighborhood. Parking behind the loft (alley access) allows you total privacy to your own fenced access and private dwelling. You'll come back!
The second story perches you up to the tree top views.Your home is the smaller one!!You\'ll park along the fence here. The library while you stay. The window blinds dark out to allow a long sleep-in if you dare. There\'s lot\'s going on just blocks away.

“This was the 5th time staying at the Retreat. This is off the beaten path, quiet, but walking distance to town and the urban trail. Its easy to get to all our favorite places, by foot of by car. Obviously one of our favorite places to stay. Our thanks to the owners for such a nice place, we hope nothing changes.”
J. from Boise, Idaho
Cute getaway

The Writer's Retreat

“Our first visit to Bend and stay at the Writer's Retreat. Cute, charming, comfortable is what the Writer's Retreat is all about. Located an easy 5 minute walk from downtown it's a great place to discover Bend, Or. The property management company was very responsive. The only complaint, the bathroom needed some serious cleaning. All in all, I would stay again and give my recommendation for anyone wanting to experience Central Oregon.”
Paul C. from Rocklin, CA
Great location.

“We had a great time. The place is nice and clean and convenient to downtown and to all Bend has to offer.”

Guest from Corbett, Oregon
Beautiful little spot

“We really enjoyed the writer's retreat and I even sampled one of the over 40 OJ Trial books she had on the shelf...fascinating.Loved the unit. Quiet, clean, spacious and an easy walk to town. Only negative is that you are above the garage and the door is loud when it operates. The owners were careful to not open the door too early.”
Joe O. from Chigaco, Il

“Had a great time. The place is super cute in a great location. Loved everything about it.”

Mid-winter Break in Bend

“This property is located on a quiet street within easy walking distance to downtown. Two things are worth mentioning: 1) The sound of the garage door opening and closing can be startling. 2) The bedding and towels had a noticeable scent from laundry detergent/dryer sheets/fabric softener, that could be bothersome to people who are sensitive to fragrance. That being said, we had a most enjoyable stay, and would recommend The Writer's Retreat to a couple looking for an efficient, convenient place to stay in Bend.”
Guest from Seattle, WA
lovely get away

“we loved the accomodations and the location was great. It was a bit tricky to find at night time, but we eventually found it!”
Guest from Douglasville, GA
Awesome place!!

“This was a great place to stay. We had a lovely time and the place was located in walking distance to the breweries, downtown, riverwalk, and coffee shops. Our toddler loved the place too.”

Can't wait to stay here again!

“We loved staying in the Writer Retreat! It was just perfect, such a relaxing environment and so close to everything; we hardly used our rental car. The artwork and books were wonderful! We will most certainly book our next stay in Bend here.”

Writer's Retreat

“If we return to Bend, we will stay there again if it is available. Our only complaint was they need to dust under the bed.”
Guest from Seattle, WA

“This was our third time staying at this great rental. Easy walking distance to many desirable locations. Great size for two.”

Can't wait to stay here again

“I would absolutely come back here. My wife and I stayed for 4 days and it was a perfect getaway. Well located just off the beaten path but within walking distance of the downtown area and the river. Beautifully designed and comfortable it was perfect for us.”
Sean v. from NASHVILLE, Tennessee
Writer's Retreat

“Wonderful little spot--nice and quiet. Was perfect for our stay. Bed is a double--would recommend a Queen as stated in ad. Also, suggest window coverings/blinds for the West facing windows by the desk/kitchen as there is a street light that shines through while sleeping. Loved all the books! Overall, very nice stay! Thank you!”
Ann H. from Eugene, OR
Great location for a getaway in beautiful Bend!

“Such an interesting place. Loved all the books! The bed and linens were of good quality and very comfortable. Loved the location. Only thing I would add is it would be wonderful to have a deck, hot tub, and some salt & pepper since it had a kitchenette. Another plus would be a coffee grinder. Lots of light, nice blackening shades in the bedroom. We would do it again but will take salt and pepper and a coffee grinder. Lovely! Thank you!”
Laurie D. from VANCOUVER, WA
2 days in Bend

“Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Writer's Retreat. Our only complaint is that we prefer a firmer mattress. We never sleep well in a queen. We knew it was a queen bed so this was not a surprise. A firmer mattress would have helped. The location and the place was very cute. We would come again and stay.”
Joanne G. from Tualatin, OR
Fantastic Place for a Couple

“Just a wonderful centrally located place! We would definitely come back. Very good internet speed at 15mbps download. We can't comment on the TV as we never turned it on. A couple of suggestions: blinds in the kitchen would be nice for the late afternoon. A wall clock would also be good; there is not one as per your picture. I think there might be a slight leak around the sink water hose. One of the reastats in the living area buzzes when the lights are not on full power. On a humous note, your place is called the "Writers Retreat", but not a pen/pencil or paper can be found anywhere. We had a great time!”
Scott W. from Louisville, Colorado
Loved it!

“Even though I booked only a couple of days before our arrival, everything went very smoothly. The property was fantastic and made our first visit to Bend even better. We absolutely enjoyed the privacy and the feeling as though we had a home away from home. We will be back!”
Larissa B. from Kirkland, WA
Perfect Weekend Getaway

“This is the perfect place for a quick weekend trip to Bend! The location is ideal and close in to downtown to walk to all of the great shopping and dinning. Would recommend bringing any cooking supplies you need, but other than that the set-up was exactly what we needed to use as a home base while we went out and explored all of Bend! Would recommend and definitely stay there again!”
Carmen V. from Beaverton, OR
Great location

“My family (3 people) stayed here while I was at a conference in Bend. The location was great - easy walk to downtown and the river.”
Guest from Portland, OR
Great romantic getaway!

“We had a fantastic stay at this property. Extremely clean, cute, 5 min walk to downtown and next to a pretty park with the river running through. Highly recommend and would love to stay again!”
Stephanie J. from San Francisco, CA
Great in every way..except living room lighting.

“I am a cross country skier and ended up due to illness spending most of my time at the house. Great place to be. Wonderful book selection. The only draw back is lighting. The ceiling lights light up the bed room as well as living room, glaring in your face if in bed. If all go to sleep at the same time it is fine. If anyone one stays up later you need to bring a separate light, or take one of the bedroom lights (caution they are very hot) into the living room. If they had some lamps in the living room for alternative lighting that would really help. Aside from the lighting ...a great place to stay.”

Retreat is perfect

“We had another lovely visit to the Writers Retreat and Bend. This place is located close to downtown and has all amenities you could want.”
Katie K. from Portland, OR
So nice!

“This is delightful and bright little retreat. The colorful paint scheme and fun, contemporary design scheme made for a very inviting space. If we weren't so interested in exploring the central valley, we could have just hung out here and read the small library of books in the space. It's my first choice when visiting Bend again.”
Ross D. from Bensenville, IL
Nice place

“We had a nice time as always in this retreat except for the phone call after we left about the smell of smoke. We don't smoke.”
Katie K. from Portland, OR

writer's loft, downtown bend

“Our stay was awesome! Super cute, clean little loft, perfect for two people. Within walking distance to everything downtown. Private, quiet, lots of books. I will definitely rent this place again. Adorable.”

Loved it!

“We LOVED the Writer's Retreat. It was so clean, modern and comfortable. I only have one complaint; we were unable to use the wifi in the property. Upon arriving and discovering that the password provided would not work I called Bend Dutch Rentals and left a message. My call was returned right away and I was told that they would call the property owner. I never heard back and the wifi never worked. Even considering this issue I would still go back!”
Nicole D. from Los Osos, CA
Perfect Getaway!

“We loved the Writer's Retreat! Thank you!”
Guest from Mt. Shasta, California
Comfortable, cozy, and convenient.

“My wife and I stayed at this property for five nights. It is attractively decorated and well appointed; we had everything we needed. Having the ability to browse the owner's extensive and eclectic library was an unexpected bonus. The location, within walking distance of downtown, is very convenient. If the bed was queen-sized instead of a double, the place would have been perfect.”
Guest from Indianapolis, Indiana

“This was the perfect getaway for two moms looking to relax and enjoy Bend! The retreat is exceptionally well decorated, clean and located ideally for walking to everything! I can't wait to return!”
Jordana L. from Portland, OR
A Reader's Tiny Paradise in Bend

“We had a great time staying at the Writer's Retreat in Bend. It was the perfect place to unwind and get our bearings in between several days of road tripping Oregon. The apartment is located on a quiet residential street within a few minutes walk to the downtown area in Bend. The unit was clean, comfortable, and inviting. I think had we not spent the day exploring Bend, we would have been just as satisfied staying in, enjoying the ambient surroundings and reading from the library. The unit was also equipped with central air conditioning, which must be a more recent update based on other reviews I had read.”

Perfect home for our Bend adventure

“The space was warm, inviting, clean and perfectly situated near downtown. We are a family of readers so the shelves of books made great company. Parking was easy. The neighborhood was quiet, a wonderful backdrop to long walks. We ate most of our meals at the condo and found the kitchen well stocked. We love Bend and will happily reserve The Writer's Retreat for our next adventure.”

Great rental but too many hoops to jump through

“We had a great stay at this rental. It was charming and in a great location. Our only complaint is that the process of securing this rental was overkill. There was a lot of paperwork, phone calls, texts, emails back and forth to make sure every document was signed and accounted for. It really became a headache. The people at the rental company were polite and helpful, but the whole process was too much.”

our Writer's Retreat vacation

“we really enjoyed this space. its proximity to downtown and the established neighborhoods of Bend was a real plus. much more enjoyable than a hotel - strip mall experience. it was clean...bright....quiet.the only drawback is the lack of window coverings in the main living areas. significantly reduces privacy.”
Cute cottage in a great location

“Traveled to bend for a wedding on a super busy "event weekend" in Bend, thankfully we found Bend Dutch! The space was suitable for a couple but would probably not recommend for a family over 3. Everything was clean and beautiful. The only issue was the lack of blinds over the windows, it didn't offer quite the amount of privacy we would have liked. But everything else was fantastic, super convenient location to downtown or the Westside. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great experience ??”
Sydney M. from Oakland, CA
We Want To Move In

“There couldn't be a better place to spend a Bend vacation than The Writer's Retreat. Seriously. You smile the minute you open the door. The colors, the charming decor and attention to detail, the perfectly equipped kitchen, the comfy bed...We only spent three nights, but wished we'd had loner so we could really settle in and cook and nest. This place inspires and makes you happy to come home after a day in Bend. Oh, and it's a 10 minute walk to the heart of downtown. Couldn't recommend it more highly. Also, Bend Dutch Vacation Rentals is a completely professional, friendly and together outfit. Hope to rent from them again!”

My fine Mother's Day mini-vacation!

“My two 3o-something sons and I had a great time in and around Bend. The Writer's Retreat provided us with a great place of rest and relaxation after we had driven down from Portland on Friday, walked all over the Lava Butte Cinder Cone and the Trail of the Molten Land and then rode in the car over to Mt. Bachelor on Saturday. We slept so well that you'd have thought we were at home! And on Sunday, the day we left, we had plenty of energy for a nice walk around parts of Smith Rock State Park. Oh, and by the way, positively the best place to eat breakfast on the weekends in Bend is Brother Jon's Public House on NW Galveston--not too far at all from The Writer's Retreat. We liked it so much on Saturday that we returned on Sunday. Both days our breakfast at around 9:30 a.m. kept us going for hours and hours. Thanks, Bend Dutch Rentals!”
Lynette H. from Portland, OR

Great for a short Getaway

“Small but comfy this loft was charming and quiet. I found it a little strange that the only television in the loft was in the bedroom. Lots of peace and quiet; LOTS OF BOOKS”
Jessica M. from Beaverton, OR

“Would love to stay longer! Quiet, cozy, comfortable and filled with lots of great books and art! Only issue...would have loved better signage in the alley to let us know we were at the right address.”
